Coinbase flagged the growth of Pepe coin And brc20s in its latest newsletter on Wednesday Uh last week you know we had a whole Bunch of trading volume obviously people Were excited about these uh two things Uh noted that the ongoing mean Mania was Led by the rise of Pepe which has grown Nearly 55 000 percent uh however the Newsletter riled up some crypto Twitter Community members has pointed out a Lesser-known link of the original Pepe The Frog meme to political groups Um yeah the token based on a Pepe the Frog meme which first surfaced nearly 20 Years ago as a comic book's character Over time it has been uh trollingly Co-opted as a hate symbol by alt-right Groups according to ADL ADL carries Water for all ngos uh and uh any any Kind of um Elite group uh they'll just carry water For them so I think that's what we're Seeing here it was just a a a friendly Funny frog and then it became a meme People were like oh we're gonna uh troll People and say it means X Y or z uh even Though it didn't and then people just Ran with that like oh it must mean this Because I saw in a forum and then uh now It actually became a self-perpetuating Uh conclusion I guess and uh here you Know here's a little beeple ART coinbase Versus Pepe Army uh love seeing it to me
